HOT
CLUB DE NORVEGE was established when the acoustic gypsy
swing revival swept over Europe in the 70-ies, together with
Raphaël Faÿs, the Ferré brothers, Patrick Saussois, Waso,
Titi Winterstein and many others. Their starting point was
the recordings of QHCF, mingled with gypsy folklore, waltzes
and swing jazz. Today they have developed their own sound,
and continue the search for a contemporary expression for
the gypsy swing. HOT CLUB DE NORVEGE have toured around the
whole world, and performed with all the stars of the gypsy
swing today. They have released eleven CD's, and their record
company, Hot Club Records, have also produced CDs with several
hundreds of the foremost musicians in the history of the gypsy
swing, from the pioneers like Baro and Matelo Ferret, Robert
Normann and Stéphane Grappelli, to the debut recordings of
young guitar stars like Jimmy Rosenberg, Stochelo Rosenberg
and Angelo Debarre.
HOT
CLUB DE NORVEGEs solo guitarist, Jon Larsen, has composed
most of their repertoire, and his melodies try to develop
the gypsy swing music into our time and age. He has received
the composer's unions award (Composer Of The Year) for music
written to Jimmy Rosenberg, and his triple suite for a classical
string quartet and Hot Club de Norvège was nominated for the
Norwegian Grammy.
HOT
CLUB DE NORVEGE are touring more than 150 days each year,
and this year include recording projects in France, Norway,
the Netherlands, Argentina and Japan. Each year they also
arrange the Django Reinhardt Festival in Norway, and the next
one will be the 20th - in that respect even older than the
festival in Samois… HOT CLUB DE NORVEGE: Jon Larsen (guitar),
Finn Hauge (harmonica and violin), Per Frydenlund (guitar)
and Svein Aarbostad (bass). For more information, you are
